About Shisei Ryū Aikibudō
Shisei Ryū Aikibudō is a traditional Japanese martial art dedicated to developing discipline, confidence, awareness, and authentic martial skill through the principles of Aiki and Bushido.
Rooted in centuries of martial tradition, Shisei Ryū teaches the integration of mind, body, and spirit through disciplined training in movement, control, timing, and harmony. Students develop not only technical skill, but also the focus, resilience, humility, and self-discipline that martial arts training brings into everyday life.
At Southeast Martial Arts Academy, we welcome beginners, experienced martial artists, teens, adults, and families who seek authentic traditional martial arts training in a respectful and supportive environment.
The modern preservation and transmission of Shisei Ryū Aikibudō was profoundly shaped by the late Gary W. Ducote, Kaiso, whose lifelong dedication ensured the art would continue across generations. Kaiso Ducote emphasized both technical excellence and personal character, teaching that martial arts should cultivate integrity, discipline, humility, and ethical responsibility alongside physical skill.
Today, the lineage is proudly carried forward by Sōke Jeffrey Lane, who continues to preserve the traditions and philosophy of Shisei Ryū Aikibudō while guiding students in the practical application of authentic martial arts training for modern life.
Under Sōke Lane’s leadership, students train to develop precision, balance, awareness, control, and composure through structured traditional practice rooted in Japanese martial culture.
More than self-defense, Shisei Ryū Aikibudō is a lifelong path of personal growth and self-improvement. Through consistent training, students strengthen the body, sharpen the mind, and cultivate the spirit while becoming part of a supportive martial arts community dedicated to mutual respect and continuous learning.
Whether you are completely new to martial arts or continuing your lifelong journey, Shisei Ryū Aikibudō offers a path toward greater confidence, discipline, and personal development through authentic traditional training.
